Mansion House Awards Ceremony

Friday 2nd of December saw the the final of the Dublin City Neighbourhoods Awards 2016 (Schools Category) take place in the Oak Room in the Mansion House.  The Lord Mayor of Dublin Brendan Carr was on hand to present the awards and to hear about all the fantastic work that has been done in each of the schools that reached the final.

St. Gabriel’s, winners of the Dublin City North section for the extensive work that has been done to create our colourful school garden, were awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ in the the competition.  Our eight pupils from 6th Class who were present on the day were wonderful representatives for our school.  Well done and congratulations to all who were involved.

5th and 6th visit the Irish UN Veterans Association

The pupils from 5th and 6th Class were very excited last week to be invited to visit the Irish UN Veterans Association in Arbour Hill.  They were given a fascinating tour of  the Arbour Hill Cemetery where the leaders of the 1916 Rising are buried.  After that our guide Stephen showed the class around the veterans garden and the Irish UN Veterans Museum.  Everybody learned some interesting facts about the role of the Irish Army and their peacekeeping duties around the world.
