Shocking times in First Class

This month in Mr Smyth’s First Class the children were learning about static electricity.

The children carried a number of experiments using balloons.

Check out what happened when they rubbed a balloon on a wool jumper and brought it close to running water. We made it bend magically!

It shows the power of static electricity!

Greening Stoneybatter

Hi all

Suzanne from Dublin City Council Parks came to talk to 5th and 6th class about an initiative being run by DCC which aims to make parts of the city greener and more environmentally friendly; this could be through planting trees, bushes, flowers or other plants, or simply by making a few changes to make our neighbourhoods greener, safer and nicer places for children and adults to play and live in.

Stoneybatter Greening would like to hear family ideas; full details and submission form is available here. http://www.dublincity.ie/greeningstoneybatter Feel free to chat with your children about how your area could be greener! Submissions deadline is the 3rd of December.
