Students from St. Gabriel’s attend 1916 Commemoration

On Wednesday the 4th of May, 5th and 6th class students from St. Gabriel’s were invited to attend in the annual 1916 Commemoration Ceremony in Arbour Hill. It was a privilege to attend such a prestigious occasion and the school was represented well by our students. Three of the students said a prayer of the faithful and carried the offertory gifts during the Mass.

Attendees at the ceremony included relatives of the leaders of the 1916 Rising along with the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, the Taoiseach, government ministers and TDs,  Senators and members of the defence forces.

After the ceremony, the students were delighted to meet the President who posed for a photo with them.

5th/6th class visit the Bridewell Garda station

The children from 5th and 6th class enjoyed an exciting day out at the Bridewell Garda station for their annual open day.

The boys and girls got to see historical squad cars and artefacts, explore vans, motorbikes and fire engines, see the Garda mounted unit on their horses and many more fun things besides.

Thanks to Community Garda Cian Lynch and Garda Shauna for helping to organise.

St Gabriel’s @ the Blackhall Cup 2022

The boys and girls from 5th/6th class had a wonderful day out at the Blackhall Cup 2022 on the grounds of the Law Society in Blackhall place. They played their best football and had fun with teams from 5 other schools (Brunswick St. BNS, Stanhope St. GNS, D7 ETNS, St. Mary’s NS and North Dublin Muslim School).

St Gabriel’s girls won bronze and our boys team came 4th after an unlucky penalty shootout. Well done to all involved, and a big thanks to the Law Society for the use of the facilities and Harry McCue @ FAI for assisting on the day.
