4th Class at “If things could talk” workshop in Collins Barracks

Today, 4th Class took part in the “If things could talk” workshop in Collins Barracks. The workshop allows pupils working in small groups to develop their historical enquiry and communication skills through hands-on, object-based learning. Engaging with a selection of objects from the museum’s handling collection, students take on the role of historians and curators to explore the different meanings that we invest in objects.

How to build your dragon! Claytastic fun in 4th Class

Today, having recently finished reading the novel “How to Train Your Dragon” by Cressida Cowell, 4th Class took to recreating their favourite character, human or dragon, from the book using clay.

Today, there were scales, teeth, talons and tails aplenty in our art lesson.

These wonderful creations will dry over the week now and the children will paint them next week.

Last week the children finished painting their Greek pinch pots which they had lots of fun creating.

Senior Infants 2024

Our play theme this month in Senior Infants is ‘Visiting the Hairdressers’. We are having so much fun learning new vocabulary through play.
As part of our maths lessons, we worked in groups to sort 3D shapes and played memory games to name but a few tasks.

Our ‘buddies’ gave us tips on how to play nicely with toys during yard time. In return, we showed them a folk dance called ‘Skip to my Lou’.

This month we explored clay and in the process created imaginative pieces of work!

Senior Infants constructed dragon puppets in preparation for the Chinese New Year which is on February 10th.

All the boys and girls in Senior Infants are delighted to begin dancing with Bernie again.
