{"id":17013,"date":"2026-01-28T10:31:53","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T10:31:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stgabrielsns.ie\/?p=17013"},"modified":"2026-01-28T10:31:53","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T10:31:53","slug":"wellbeing-supports-pilot-programme-at-st-gabriels-national-school-wellbeing-ambassadors-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stgabrielsns.ie\/?p=17013","title":{"rendered":"Wellbeing Supports Pilot Programme at St Gabriel\u2019s National School &#8211;  Wellbeing Ambassadors Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>St Gabriel\u2019s National School is pleased to be participating in a pilot initiative led by the <strong>Department of Education and Youth<\/strong>, providing additional wellbeing supports in selected primary schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of this pilot, an <strong>Education Wellbeing Practitioner<\/strong>, working under the direction and supervision of a psychologist from the <strong>National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS)<\/strong>, is supporting our school community. The practitioner has completed the <strong>Wellbeing Ambassadors Programme<\/strong>, which is being implemented with our <strong>6th Class pupils<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All 6th Class pupils will act as <strong>Wellbeing Ambassadors<\/strong>, promoting kindness, inclusion, and positive wellbeing during yard time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Their role includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Buddy Bench:<\/strong> A space for pupils who may be feeling lonely, upset, or who would like someone to talk to, supported by Wellbeing Ambassadors.<\/li><li><strong>\u201cWell Done\u201d Cards:<\/strong> Cards given out during yard time to recognise and encourage kind and positive behaviour.<\/li><li><strong>Games Corner:<\/strong> A games area at the benches beside the moderate class to support inclusive play and social interaction.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Posters displayed during yard time highlight the Buddy Bench and Games Corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Wellbeing Ambassador display is located at the front entrance of the school, and ambassadors wear lanyards during yard time so they are easily identifiable and approachable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative helps develop leadership, empathy, and resilience while fostering a caring and inclusive school environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stgabrielsns.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Wellbeing-Ambassador-Programme.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/stgabrielsns.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Wellbeing-Ambassador-Programme-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17014\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stgabrielsns.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Wellbeing-Ambassador-Programme-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/stgabrielsns.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Wellbeing-Ambassador-Programme-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/stgabrielsns.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Wellbeing-Ambassador-Programme-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/stgabrielsns.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Wellbeing-Ambassador-Programme.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>St Gabriel\u2019s National School is pleased to be participating in a pilot initiative led by the Department of Education and Youth, providing additional wellbeing supports in selected primary schools.
