A limerick<\/strong> is a funny little poem containing five lines. It has a very distinctive rhythm and rhyme pattern. This week Mr Smyth’s Class wrote some of their own- here are just a few. Hope you enjoy them!<\/p>\n

“Tyr on Fire” By Lavinia<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once was a liar called Tyr,<\/em><\/p>\n

When he lied his pants were on fire,<\/em><\/p>\n

So he tried to stop,<\/em><\/p>\n

He became a cop,<\/em><\/p>\n

Sergeant Tyr and his pants on fire.<\/em><\/p>\n

“A Boy” By Kacper<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once was a very small boy,<\/em><\/p>\n

Who sat on a little car toy,<\/em><\/p>\n

He was not happy,<\/em><\/p>\n

He had a nappy,<\/em><\/p>\n

And he sat on a little toy.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Ryan” By Mateusz and Daryl<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once was a boy called Ryan,<\/em><\/p>\n

Whose favourite colour was cyan<\/em><\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t like bed,<\/em><\/p>\n

He had a sore head,<\/em><\/p>\n

He couldn\u2019t stop crying- oh Ryan!<\/em><\/p>\n

The Wonderful Bear By Ana<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once a beautiful bear,<\/em><\/p>\n

Who liked to have wonderful hair,<\/em><\/p>\n

He often drank water,<\/em><\/p>\n

So did his daughter,<\/em><\/p>\n

That wonderful beautiful bear<\/em><\/p>\n

The Skinny Lizard<\/strong> By Calvin<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once a skinny lizard,<\/em><\/p>\n

Who survived a long lasting blizzard,<\/em><\/p>\n

He went on a mission,<\/em><\/p>\n

But first he went fishing,<\/em><\/p>\n

The fish he caught ate the poor lizard!<\/em><\/p>\n

The Bird By Ajay<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once was a beautiful bird,<\/em><\/p>\n

Who fell into a noisy herd,<\/em><\/p>\n

But the sheep were asleep,<\/em><\/p>\n

And he fell in a heap,<\/em><\/p>\n

That wonderful beautiful bird.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Cage By Florin<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once a beautiful cage,<\/p>\n

Who sat right beside a stage,<\/p>\n

They clapped their hands slow,<\/p>\n

To end the great show,<\/p>\n

Then someone robbed the nice cage<\/p>\n

The Robot Fly By Josh<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once was a robot fly<\/em><\/p>\n

Who was old and he said goodbye,<\/em><\/p>\n

And he stayed alive,<\/em><\/p>\n

But he never died<\/em><\/p>\n

That wonderful funny old fly<\/em><\/p>\n

The Clown By David P<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once a funny old clown,<\/em><\/p>\n

Who wanted to really sit down<\/em><\/p>\n

He had a big shoe<\/em><\/p>\n

And also had glue<\/em><\/p>\n

To put on his very big crown.<\/em><\/p>\n

Selfish Guy By Elena<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once was a selfish guy,<\/em><\/p>\n

And everybody asked him why?<\/em><\/p>\n

He\u2019d tell a big lie,<\/em><\/p>\n

As big as a fly,<\/em><\/p>\n

So he remained a normal guy<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Dan and Stan By Ryan<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once a young man called Stan,<\/em><\/p>\n

Who met his best friend he called Dan,<\/em><\/p>\n

They saw a young lark,<\/em><\/p>\n

Out there in the dark,<\/em><\/p>\n

And hit the bird hard with a pan.<\/em><\/p>\n

Pam and Sam By Erika<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once a small girl called Pam,<\/em><\/p>\n

Who a big sister named Sam,<\/em><\/p>\n

They live in a house,<\/em><\/p>\n

They saw a small mouse<\/em><\/p>\n

And we never saw Pam and Sam<\/em><\/p>\n

The King By David C<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once was a clothes loving king,<\/em><\/p>\n

Who always loved the cool new thing,<\/em><\/p>\n

He swapped his crown jewel,<\/em><\/p>\n

For something too cool<\/em><\/p>\n

So now he\u2019s not the cool new thing.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dan By Daniel and Gabriella & Mr Smyth<\/strong><\/p>\n

There once was a young boy called Dan,<\/em><\/p>\n

Who fell on his head in the pan,<\/em><\/p>\n

He said that hurt me,<\/em><\/p>\n

As he drank his tea,<\/em><\/p>\n

Funny young man called Dan- the man.<\/em><\/p>\n
