Hi 2nd class,<\/strong><\/p>\n

What an incredible week<\/strong> I had getting a chance to speak to your mammy or daddy and even some of you. I am absolutely delighted to hear you are all safe and sound<\/strong> most importantly. I am so proud of you all for trying and attempting<\/strong> some school work each week. I could nearly swallow my ears it made my smile so big to hear you are all giving it a go.<\/p>\n

Now that seesaw<\/strong> is up in action thanks to the incredible Mr. Donnelly and Mr Smyth, I will look forward to messaging you to hear how you are getting on. It would be fantastic if this week you could try to upload three pieces of work you have done for me to take a look at. I will continue to upload the main work I put together each week on the website<\/strong>, as requested by all, but I will also begin to add additional activities<\/strong> on seesaw for you to take a look at. You can do it but you don’t have to.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the communion<\/strong> has been cancelled<\/strong>. I look forward to a new date being decided when we return to school.<\/p>\n

This week I have been extra busy practicing playing my musical instruments. \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I have been so lucky this week because the incredible Ms. O’Leary<\/strong> and Ms. Fitzpatrick<\/strong> have come up with some wonderful activities for you all. If you visit their folders there is lots more fun activities to do. Check them out!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The activities<\/strong> I have put together for this week are:<\/p>\n

English<\/strong><\/p>\n

Try write as many “magic e” words as you can think of. The “magic e” rule is when the letter \u201ce<\/strong>\u201d sits at the end of the word<\/strong>, it is usually silent and the \u201cmagical e”<\/strong> tells the first vowel or the preceding vowel to say its name or long sound. The magic e<\/strong> vowels are as follows: a, e, i, o, u. Here are the 10 “magic e” words to put into sentences this week:<\/p>\n

1. late 2. plane 3. name 4. smile 5. invite 6. cute 7. home 8. rude 9. slime 10. hope<\/p>\n

*Remember to use adjectives (describing words like big, green, tall) and try make your sentences even longer than last weeks.*<\/em><\/p>\n

Poem: <\/strong>Take a read of the poem “If I was a superhero” by Sally Gray. I want you to design your own superhero costume. You can draw it or put on clothes from your wardrobe to do this. (Maybe even borrow some things from your parent’s wardrobe too if you ask nicely.) Then write and draw about what you would do if you were a superhero.<\/p>\n

Maths<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. This week we will be taking a look at Time. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In class we had been learning about reading time on the hour and half past the hour.<\/p>\n

Here is a list of ideas to have a super week filled with super hero activities: Superhero day activity sheet<\/a><\/p>\n

Design your own superhero: Design a Superhero<\/a> – You can copy this drawing on a page and make it even more cooler with a super costume and lots of colour.<\/p>\n

Create your own superhero mask: Superhero mask<\/a> – copy this onto a sheet of paper and create it for your own superhero. Then cut it out.<\/p>\n

Try create a super cool jet pack for your superhero: Jetpack Craft Instructions<\/a><\/p>\n

Explain your superhero’s powers: Superhero Transition Writing<\/a><\/p>\n

Art:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why not try a step-by-step drawing jungle animals activity<\/a><\/p>\n

Music: <\/strong><\/p>\n

Try practice singing some of these songs we have done as a class.<\/p>\n

Hakuna Matata<\/a><\/p>\n

Oh what a beautiful morning<\/a><\/p>\n

Why not make a Bottle shaker<\/a> to shake along to the rhythm of some traditional Irish music. These are some of my favourite tunes I play on my instruments –  Irish Music<\/a><\/p>\n

Monday – Friday everyday from 11-2.Tune in and take a look.<\/p>\n

I hope you all have an incredible week ahead and I really look forward to trying seesaw out with you all. I am so excited to see your super work that you can try to upload. When we get back to school perhaps we could have an ICE-CREAM<\/strong> <\/em>party to celebrate all the wonderful work you will have uploaded on seesaw. You know Mrs. Walshe’s deal; “Work hard, Play hard”.<\/strong><\/p>\n
