Students from St. Gabriel’s attend 1916 Commemoration

On Wednesday the 4th of May, 5th and 6th class students from St. Gabriel’s were invited to attend in the annual 1916 Commemoration Ceremony in Arbour Hill. It was a privilege to attend such a prestigious occasion and the school was represented well by our students. Three of the students said a prayer of the faithful and carried the offertory gifts during the Mass.

Attendees at the ceremony included relatives of the leaders of the 1916 Rising along with the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, the Taoiseach, government ministers and TDs,  Senators and members of the defence forces.

After the ceremony, the students were delighted to meet the President who posed for a photo with them.
