STEM Workshop with educators from Hangzhou Normal University in China

Today in school we were delighted to welcome a special group from China visiting our school to observe a Try Five STEM workshop with 4th class. The group consisted of 7 professors from Hangzhou Normal University in China. Hangzhou Normal University is one of the leading universities in Zhejiang Province, China, known for its teacher education programs. Its Primary Education major stands out for combining strong theoretical learning with rich practical training.

Ms Comerford, the principal and Mr Smyth, our school STEM coordinator, with the help of Ms Sweetman welcomed the professors from the University, Institution of Education and the Director of the Future School Research Institute. They have close connections with their local primary schools and programmes covering not only STEM but also other subjects like language, art and music. Our visitors presented the school with beautiful prints created by students back in China.

The pupils in 4th class took part in a STEM workshop on renewable energy and wind turbines. They really enjoyed the workshop and the visit of the professors. A huge thanks to the staff of Technological University Dublin for arranging the workshop and the visit.
