Science Experiment – Bubble Bomb

Here are some photos of Senior Infants trying an experiment called Bubble Bomb.
We took a piece of kitchen towel and put 3 teaspoons of baking soda onto it. We folded it up to make a small parcel.
Next we measured out 2 cups of vinegar and mixed it with some warm water.
When we went outside to the courtyard we poured the vinegar/water mixture into a resealable sandwich bag and then dropped in the baking soda parcel, sealing the bag quickly and leaving it on the ground.
After a few seconds the baking soda started to react with the vinegar – a gas called carbon dioxide began to form in the sandwich bag creating bubbles.
After another half minute, so much gas had formed in the bag that it popped!
