Week 2

Group One:

China 4 V Benin 4

Daryl (2 goals) John (2 goals) Klajvis (4 goals)

Klajvis pulled off a magnificent display and bagged 4 goals to keep Benin in the competition and give them a hope of claiming top spot in Group 1.

Daryl and John  had both netted 2 goals to put China in the driving seat and Ana  was impressive in defense. However, Klajvis’s sheer effort pulled Benin back into the game. He ended the match with 4 goals to his credit.

Romania who lost last week are playing for pride on Friday and they can’t progress to the semi-finals. With one game to go, Benin must beat the Romanian team on Friday and win by more than 3 goals if they hope to jump China to reach the Semi-Finals. Romania can still spoil the party for Benin on Friday!

Group Two:

Poland 2 V Nigeria 2

Daniel (1 goal) Daryl (1 goal) John (2 goals)

Due to people being absent, a number of players on loan to both Nigeria and Poland helped net a few goals. Daniel, on loan from China opened the scoring for Poland and their lead was doubled by Daryl, also on loan from China, who scored a second. Their Chinese team mate John, playing on loan for the opposition, Nigeria, scored 2 to level the game. Jessica for Nigeria put in an impressive performance.

Having lost last week, Poland needed a win today.

Today’s loss Poland are out of the competition and with the final game of the group on Friday, if Nigeria win they will go through to the semi-finals. If the game ends in a draw, Estonia will top the group and will go through.

Group Three:

Philippines 0 V South Africa 6

Ryan (6 goals), Roy (3 goals), Florin (1 goal)

Dynamite striker Ryan bagged an impressive 5 goals today to see South Africa see off the Philippines challenge and make him a serious contender for the golden boot. South Africa’s tally was added to by a hat trick by Roy  and a final goal by Florin.

In the final game this Friday against Albania a draw enough for South Africa to go through to the semi-finals with their superior goal difference.

Group Four:

Greece 3 V Lithuania 3

Kevin (3 goals) Leon (2 goals) Rebecca (1 goal)

Player of the match was Rebecca who not only scored an important goal for Lithuania but had an outstanding match for them when she stood between the sticks, in goals and made some impressive saves.

Kevin who scored a hat trick was the star man for Greece and Owen pulled off a magnificent save in the match to keep his team in it.

Greece remain favourites to progress to the semi-finals having won one and drew one match.

However, should Lithuania beat India and by more than 5 goals this Friday they could spoil the Greek party!
