Limericks

A limerick is a funny little poem containing five lines. It has a very distinctive rhythm and rhyme pattern. This week Mr Smyth’s Class wrote some of their own- here are just a few. Hope you enjoy them!

“Tyr on Fire” By Lavinia

There once was a liar called Tyr,

When he lied his pants were on fire,

So he tried to stop,

He became a cop,

Sergeant Tyr and his pants on fire.

“A Boy” By Kacper

There once was a very small boy,

Who sat on a little car toy,

He was not happy,

He had a nappy,

And he sat on a little toy.

“Ryan” By Mateusz and Daryl

There once was a boy called Ryan,

Whose favourite colour was cyan

He didn’t like bed,

He had a sore head,

He couldn’t stop crying- oh Ryan!

The Wonderful Bear By Ana

There once a beautiful bear,

Who liked to have wonderful hair,

He often drank water,

So did his daughter,

That wonderful beautiful bear

The Skinny Lizard By Calvin

There once a skinny lizard,

Who survived a long lasting blizzard,

He went on a mission,

But first he went fishing,

The fish he caught ate the poor lizard!

The Bird By Ajay

There once was a beautiful bird,

Who fell into a noisy herd,

But the sheep were asleep,

And he fell in a heap,

That wonderful beautiful bird.

There once a beautiful cage,

Who sat right beside a stage,

They clapped their hands slow,

To end the great show,

Then someone robbed the nice cage

The Robot Fly By Josh

There once was a robot fly

Who was old and he said goodbye,

And he stayed alive,

But he never died

That wonderful funny old fly

There once a funny old clown,

Who wanted to really sit down

He had a big shoe

And also had glue

To put on his very big crown.

There once was a selfish guy,

And everybody asked him why?

He’d tell a big lie,

As big as a fly,

So he remained a normal guy.

There once a young man called Stan,

Who met his best friend he called Dan,

They saw a young lark,

Out there in the dark,

And hit the bird hard with a pan.

Pam and Sam By Erika

There once a small girl called Pam,

Who a big sister named Sam,

They live in a house,

They saw a small mouse

And we never saw Pam and Sam

The King By David C

There once was a clothes loving king,

Who always loved the cool new thing,

He swapped his crown jewel,

For something too cool

So now he’s not the cool new thing.

Dan By Daniel and Gabriella & Mr Smyth

There once was a young boy called Dan,

Who fell on his head in the pan,

He said that hurt me,

As he drank his tea,

Funny young man called Dan- the man.
