School Update April 20th

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope that you and your family continue to be safe and well in these unprecedented circumstances.

I hope that you all have had some kind of a break over the Easter holidays.

I know that for many of you, circumstances will have changed as a result of Covid-19. All of the staff will do their best to support you remotely for the coming weeks in so far as we can.

We will continue to post up new work to be done at home each week. Feel free to work through this in any order as you may still have things from Week 1 that your child would like to continue working on.

You can also complete work set by other teachers as there may be tasks that your child is interested in doing from the classes below or above them, or indeed work set by our Support Team Teachers: Ms O Leary, Ms Whyte, Ms Fahey, Ms Dunne, Ms Fitzpatrick, Ms Hanlon & Mrs Condron.Any engagement in anything that links to school is valuable.

You may be accessing the wealth of online resources that are available to us all at this time or be watching school on RTE 1.

If possible continue to speak and listen to your child, have them follow instructions, play imaginative or board games, play outdoor games, do some baking, involve them in household chores, write or draw about a movie you have watched.

There will be days where you feel like you have done nothing but if you have loved your child and kept them secure then you are doing the most important job of all.

This week all class teachers will ring you from their own personal phones to see how you are getting on. There will be 3 attempts to contact you using private number in the coming week. If you miss these calls or if there is a specific time that is best to contact you, please contact Mike on 085 187 1173. Mike is available on this number to help and support you in the coming weeks.

We will begin to roll out an app called SeeSaw this week to allow for pupils to communicate with their teacher and receive feedback in relation to their homework. Teachers will explain in more detail how this will work over the phone and you will be required to consent to this online communication by email. Mike will also be providing support to parents in this regard.

As it stands we do not know when the Holy Communion will take place but rest assured we will have the most wonderful day when it does.

We do not know when we will return to school but we are all hoping to be back as soon as possible.

In the meantime, I hope that you find the contact from class teachers helpful. There will then be an opportunity to set up phonecalls/Seesaw communication with support teachers and SNAs moving forward.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mike on 085 187 1173 or email myself principal@stgabrielsns.ie if I can be of any assistance.

Thinking of you all and missing you all,

Suzanne

(Principal)
