Artist Visit to Mr Smyth’s 3rd Class

Today, Andy, a local artist, who works with fabric and fibre visited the class. She showed the children some of her work using a loom. She taught the children how to create their very own cardboard loom for weaving which they will begin next week.

The children also created their own macrame keychain decoration in their favourite colour using macrame cord and by weaving a twisted macrame pattern.

Over the last few months, the children have read the book together. They worked hard writing chapter summaries, character profiles, story profiles, book reviews, advertisements for a peach visit and much more. They also created clay creations of characters from the book.
