4th Class journey through time at the Henrietta Street Museum

Today, 4th Class visited the Henrietta St Museum and journeyed through time from the wealth of the 1700s with Lord Viscount Molesworth and his wife Mary Jenney Usher through to the poverty of the tenements of the 1900s.

They learned about how the house changed through the centuries and of the different lives of those who lived there through story and artefacts as they travelled from room to room.

In the weeks leading up to the trip, the class have been reading about the resident’s lives and watched first hand video and audio accounts of former tenement residents.

Check out some of the pictures below from their trip.

The children even recreated a photograph from the street from 1924 (101 years ago!).

St Gabriel’s NS Run the Half Marathon in September!

As a fun, healthy activity and for a school fundraiser, two of our teachers, Ms Fitzpatrick and Mr Smyth, along with all the pupils in St Gabriel’s NS, are covering 21km in September by running 1km every day in the school yard. In addition, Ms Fitzpatrick and Mr Smyth will run in the Dublin Half Marathon in the Phoenix Park on Sunday 21st September.

Check out the pictures of the children doing their daily 1km run.

Parents, guardians and friends are encouraged to support their efforts by donating to the school. Many thanks!
