World Book Day 3rd March 2022

We love to read in St. Gabriel’s N.S. We especially love to read on World Book Day! We are all thrilled to celebrate World Book Day in a variety of ways in our school this year! Here are a few of the activities we plan to take part in:

  • We’re going to enjoy some stories from our collection of Story Sacks.
  • We have a fun book trail to follow.
  • We will test our knowledge of books with some themed quizzes.
  • We are excited to share our reading with other classes this year, now that restrictions have lifted. Junior infants are looking forward to welcoming 2nd and 3rd class to read some stories.
  • We hope to design bookmarks and book covers.
  • We will read some of our favourite books and some new ones too!

Don’t forget, the World Book Day celebrations can continue at home! Every child in the school will receive a World Book Day book or a voucher on this special day. We encourage all children and parents to take some time to share a book at home together.

Junior Infants love Tuesdays.

There has been some very exciting Tuesdays in school this week and last week.
Last week, there was a very special Tuesday as the date was 2.2.22. There was great excitement when the children found out they could call the day “Twosday”. Junior Infants had great fun making their Twosday hats.

This week it was pancake Tuesday. The children had great fun coming up with ideas of what they would put on their pancakes and learned lots of information about pancakes. They were even lucky enough to get to eat some pancakes in school!!!
