The pupils from Ms O’Loughlin’s class in St Gabriel’s NS joined other local schools and community groups from the local area today (Friday, 9th November) to take part in a unique reading project that sees school children, community groups, senior citizens groups and local businesses all read one book by a local author at the same time and share their experiences with one another.
The children were entertained by storyteller Niall DeBurca and Brian Gallagher, author of our chosen book “Secrets & Shadows” read from the book. Speaking at the launch of the project, Niall, HSCL Teacher from St Gabriel’s Primary School said: ‘Reading is a lifelong passion and lifelong gift. This project is a great opportunity for people of different ages and of different interests to have a common experience in the form of reading a book. We’re particularly proud of our young readers from the local schools whose enthusiasm and interest in the project has been infectious.’
