Festive shared reading with Junior Infants and Second Class

On Thursday Ms Sweetman’s class and Mr Donnelly’s class decided to do some festive shared reading and took turns reading each other some wonderful seasonal books. Junior Infants are becoming very independent around the school and 2nd Class were great role models to their younger school mates. Well done everyone, and happy Christmas!

A very special visitor to St Gabriel’s NS this morning

A very busy but very special visitor popped into school today with some lovely gifts for all the children. We know how busy he is this time of year getting ready for the big night, so we are delighted he found the time to drop in. The children received some lovely books from him in our magical Santa Grotto! We hope they enjoy reading them! Happy Christmas!

Printing in Second Class

Second class have been having lots of festive fun printing with different materials and ideas. We looked at different ways of printing and then used baking tins, blue-tac and wooden blocks to make our own prints and copies.

The Roman Force be with you!

3rd Class have been learning about Forces in Science, Construction in Art and the Romans in History. They combined all of this by designing and making their own Roman catapults in groups. Check out their amazing creations below. They had so much fun shooting paper “boulders” from their catapults!

Construction in 2nd Class

2nd Class were busy last week using cardboard and various fastening techniques to make different buildings. After visiting buildings in Grangegorman, getting architecture lessons from Emma and construction tips from Alex, we planned our buildings and used a little imagination and creativity in making and decorating them. We hope you enjoy!

Buongiorno Third Class

3rd Class had the pleasure of a visit from Agostino who came in to answer the children’s questions about Italy. They had questions about Italian food, cities, cars and much more. We have been learning about Italy in Geography so this was a great opportunity to interview someone from the country.

We are very grateful to Agostino for taking the time to come in to our class. Thank you! Grazie Mille!
