Second Class visit Stoneybatter

Second Class took advantage of the sunshine on Wednesday and went on a lovely trip around Stoneybatter. We have been looking at our local community and how people help us through their jobs. We visited a DIY shop, a take-away and an auto-repair shop. We learned a lot about how these people work and what they do to help different people nearby. Thank you very much to Gerard, Claudia and Barry!

Drawing inspired by poetry in 3rd Class

Using the poem “Accidentially” by Maxine Kumin, the children in 3rd class, with the help of a mirror, made pencil and colouring pencil drawings of themselves yawning. They paid particular attention to the shape of their mouths, eyes, eyebrows and tongue. Check out their work below!

2nd Class Abstract Art personality portraits

We’ve been studying line and drawing in abstract art.

We learned that many modern artists made new rules in art. Their drawings and paintings can mean many different things or even nothing at all!

We added some of our own personalities to our art. We hope you like it! 😊

3rd Class feature on RTE’s News2Day

3rd Class had their answers to News2Day’s Question of the Week, on advice for someone starting a new school year or a new school, featured on Friday’s (September 6th) show. Check out the lovely email we received from the programme and our pupil’s answers! You can rewatch the episode on the RTE player.

Tales from the City

Congratulations to the students from St Gabriel’s who participated in a collection of writing and artwork facilitated by Eveanna O Meara and Dublin 1/7 School Completion Programme. Tales from the City is a collection of children’s artistic contributions showing what they feel is special about the city they live in. Eight students from St. Gabriel’s contributed to the book, in addition to young people from other schools and community projects in Dublin 1 and 7. Well done for creating such wonderful art, poetry and writing!
