Well done to all the children who took part in the semi-finals and final game today in Aughrim Street Sports Hall.
Today the pupils and staff of St. Gabriel’s held the annual sponsored Green Walk. The pupils all dressed in green and we walked around the area, despite the cold weather! Thank you to all the parents, families and friends who have sponsored the children already and we hope to keep going to reach our target. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Bhí craic mór againn inniú sa halla ag damhsa le chéile. Junior and Senior Infants had a great time today doing céilí dancing in the P.E. hall as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. Ms. Deignan very kindly showed us some traditional Irish dancing and there were lots of smiles and laughs as we pointed our toes and danced to the music.

Junior Infants have just this minute had a surprising and exciting visit from Santa Claus!! We heard sleigh bells in the distance and then what do you know……. Santa arrived at the door. He had a lovely present for everyone. Thank you Santa!
.
Junior Infants were hard at work this week, just like Santa’s little elves! In December all the children in St. Gabriel’s explore Print as our strand in Art, so in our class we decided to print our own wrapping paper.
Using Christmas printing stamps, we used different colours that we thought went well together. We printed festive wrapping paper that we can use for the surprise presents that are also being prepared for parents and families!
Junior Infants have been very busy this week! As well as working hard in class, we also found time to visit the colourful school library on Tuesday. We cant wait to go back again to look at some of the books that we didn’t get to see!
On Wednesday we started the first of six lessons in Gaelic football. Johnny, from St. Oliver Plunketts GAA club, was vey impressed with our skills and hopes to see some children from all classes joining the club in the New Year.

St. Gabriel’s held the annual Maths Tables competition as part of Maths Week 2013. The nerves before the Junior and Senior finals were evident in all the children taking part and even in the audience. Each finalist had a number of sums to answer with the questions gradually getting more difficult until only the winner was still standing. Not only were the pupils’ excellent Maths skills displayed, it was also a great pleasure the see the outstanding sportsmanship of the participants. Well done to Michal, our Junior Champion with Scott and David the deserving runners up. Our Senior Champion Madalina was heartily congratulated by runners up Alex and Darragh. Well done to all the finalists!
