Super Maths Games Event!

As part of national Maths Week, St. Gabriel’s once again held our whole school Maths Games event which tries to bring as many parents, teachers and pupils together as possible to play games at the same time.  Despite the very wet conditions this morning, we were delighted to have many parents and family members come to our P.E. hall to take part in the games.  The children were all focused on their games for the hour but still managed to have fun which is what Maths Week is all about.  Well done to everybody involved!

Junior Infants First Week at School

Junior Infants have been settling in very well this week!  They have been getting used to their new classroom and making friends with each other.  6th Class have been very helpful by ‘buddying up’ with each child and showing the Junior Infants how to use all the toys and equipment in the playground.  On Thursday the class did a tour of the school to see where everything is, visiting the staff room, Ms. McLoone’s office and the computer room among others.  A busy year is ahead for the class!

Awards Ceremony

St. Gabriel’s celebrated the achievements of our pupils today in the end of year awards ceremony.  The staff, pupils and parents came together in the P.E. hall to recognise the hard work that took place during the year with awards including Pupil of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year, Gaeilgeoir na Bliana and awards for attendance.  Well done to all those who received awards.

Parents Lend a Helping Hand

Well done and thank you to some of our parents who gave up their free time to help paint the railings outside the school.  Thanks to their help, the job was done quickly but also with great care and is much appreciated.

A Treat for Junior Infants!

Junior Infants were treated to a nice surprise on Friday when Ms. McLoone invited them for a picnic lunch in the courtyard.  After a morning of lots of hard work they had a chance to relax and enjoy the sunshine.  Ms. McLoone had even made some mini cupcakes herself.  Well, that’s what she told us anyway!

Sports Day Activities

Junior and Senior Infants had a fantastic time at Sports Day 2013.  It was a busy day from start to finish with many different activities organised from indoor hockey and water races, to parachute games and bubble blowing.

While there were some races for medals, the main aim of the day was for everyone to take part and most importantly to have fun!  Many thanks to Ms. Hyland who organised the whole day and made it such a success.  Also a special thank you to the parents who gave up their time to come and watch and even to take part.  Well done.
