Workshop in Phibsborough Library with author Patricia Forde

On Tuesday, 2nd/3rd class took part in a workshop in Phibsborough library with the fantastic author Patricia Forde. We had lots of fun reading her book ‘Bumpfizzle the Best on Planet Earth’. She entertained us no end with her funny tales about growing up in Galway. She read extracts from the book and she was blown away by all the fantastic questions the boys and girls had for her. We gave this book a resounding thumbs up!

Maths Games are Back!

Parents/guardians, grandparents are invited to come and join the fun for one of the sessions! We’d love to have some of you in each week to help out and enjoy the games.

Other classes will have their turn after the February mid-term break.

Tree Day 2018

Today, October 4th, is Tree Day 2018.
The Sunshine class went for a walk to the Phoenix Park where we looked at some trees and noticed their different leaves and bark.
We saw that lots of the leaves have changed colour and fallen off the trees. We collected some leaves to bring back to school.
We also saw a family of swans going for a walk!

Santa Claus pays a visit to St. Gabriel’s

We had a very special visitor to St. Gabriel’s this week.

Santa Claus came to visit on Wednesday. He said he had heard that we are the best school in Dublin with the best boys and girls. And he’s right!

He very kindly gave a gift of a book to every single boy and girl in the whole school. He reminded the children how reading is so important and also lots of fun.

We were very impressed that Santa has been learning Irish too, and was able to use his cúpla focail. He was very impressed with the good manners of the children throughout the school in English and in Irish.

Wishing all the children and their families a very happy Christmas.

School reopens Monday 8th January at 8:50am

Lollipop Construction

We did construction with lollipops today in Ms Sweetman’s class.

Tables Championship Finals!

One of the most popular events every year in Maths Week in St. Gabriel’s is the Tables Championship.  Pupils from 1st to 3rd Class battle it out to become the junior champion, and those from 4th to 6th Class compete for the senior crown.  In a tense final, Ms. McLoone had to keep adding more and more difficult sums until the winners finally emerged.  Well done to all involved!
