Creative Writing in action in 4th/5th Class

This month our focus in Literacy Hour in writing is on Narrative Writing. We have studied the character Mr. Twit from Roald Dahl’s classic story.

The pupils have created their own imaginative “nasty” character and are writing their own creative story around the character.

Check out the wonderful characters they have created Literacy Hour and brought to life with fabric and fibre in Art Class. Well done!

Green Walk!

St. Gabriel‘s annual sponsored Green Walk was held on 15th of March this year and was enjoyed again by all. Well done to all the children who worked hard to fill their sponsorship cards and thank you to all the parents, neighbours, aunties, uncles, grannies and grandads who sponsored them.  We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather on this day and our pupils were a colourful sight as they walked through Stoneybatter in their green costumes.

Mind Your Mind Art Competition

Recently, we held an art competition with the theme “Mind Your Mind”. There were some fantastic entries, and it was wonderful to see children working together on posters too.

All posters were displayed at the Children and Youth Action Group’s Midterm break event “Young Minds” in the Complex Youth Theatre. At “Young Minds”, children explored the theme “Mind Your Mind” through dance, music, art and drama over two days.

Congratulations to everyone who took the time to create a poster, and a very special “WELL DONE” to our three winners.
