Our Spring Walk to the Phoenix Park

Junior and Senior Infants were delighted to be able to join up with our buddies in 5th and 6th class to go on a spring walk to the park.

It was fantastic to team up in our challenge to search for signs of spring. The children found some spring blossoms, budding branches, beautiful daffodils and even a little ladybird!

All classes are looking forward to our next outing with buddies from other classes in the school.

Junior Infants love Tuesdays.

There has been some very exciting Tuesdays in school this week and last week.
Last week, there was a very special Tuesday as the date was 2.2.22. There was great excitement when the children found out they could call the day “Twosday”. Junior Infants had great fun making their Twosday hats.

This week it was pancake Tuesday. The children had great fun coming up with ideas of what they would put on their pancakes and learned lots of information about pancakes. They were even lucky enough to get to eat some pancakes in school!!!

Preparation for our Nativity Performance in Junior Infants

Our two junior infant classes have been very busy over the past few weeks preparing for our Nativity performance. The children have learned all about the story of the very First Christmas.

They have taken on the roles of kings, shepherds, sheep, angels, innkeepers as well as the star, the donkey, Mary and Joseph. The boys and girls have learned songs and actions as part of the show.

Junior Infants enjoyed rehearsing our re-enactment of the Nativity in the classroom before preparing for filming it on our school stage. There was great excitement on the days the children had the opportunity to fit on and wear their costumes!

Although we can’t perform in front of a real audience this year, we look forward to sharing a special recording with our Junior Infant parents on Seesaw this week. Other classes in the school will also have the opportunity to watch the recording on their whiteboards before we get our Christmas holidays on Wednesday.

A special thanks to Mr. Crosbie and Mr. Flanagan for helping with costumes and the filming of our show in recent days.

Pupils from St Gabriel’s NS feature in exciting National Museum project “Little Houses”

We are very excited and proud of our current and past pupils who took part in the “Little Houses” project in the National Museum of Ireland.

‘Little Houses’ is an exhibition of artworks created during the Covid 19 pandemic, in a collaborative partnership between the Stoneybatter Youth Service and the National Museum of Ireland.

Check out the project’s website, where you can explore the houses and watch a video interviewing some of the participants. The exhibition is now open in the National Museum in Collins Barracks. It’s well worth a visit!
