Our Class are doing a project on community at the moment. The project deals with Stories from people in the past (History) and People who live and work in our community (Geography)

As part of the project we have written to many people including local shop keepers, Gardai, community workers and more. We have received letters back from many of them.

Today we had a great visit from Pat O’Brien, a past pupil, who attended St Gabriel’s NS in the 1950s and who went on to run a very successful jewellery business, Irish Rubies in Dublin’s City Centre for many years.

Pat retold amazing stories of his youth, his hurling days in school and his time in St Gabriel’s NS. We are all very proud of our school’s history and our past pupils. Thanks to Pat for coming in to share his stories with us! Check back soon for more pictures from our project work!

A big crowd turned out for Day 2 of Operation Transformation! this Wednesday sees our first exercise class in St Gabriel’s NS. If you are interested in taking part just drop in or text Niall for more info.

Miss O’Loughlin’s 5th/6th class are back to work investigating which materials act as conductors and which act as insulators of heat. So far, we have experimented to figure out that metal is the best conductor of heat. Check out the pictures of our experiment.

We have a challenge ahead – to design and make a cup holder to keep the teacher’s and SNA’s cups of tea warm on cold days….watch this space!

Operation Transformation is back!!

Welcome Back- Happy New Year!
