Stories Shared for World Book Day

World Book Day celebrations in St. Gabriel’s reached peak excitement today with a number of activities including a Book Trail and the Where’s Wally? Challenge.

The largest event that took place was Share a Story and we were very lucky to have some parents and guardians who came to the school to share a story with all the children.

Well done to all involved! Continue reading →

Reminder: Parent Teacher Meetings

Parent and Teacher meetings will take place on Thursday 14th and Thursday 21st of November for children from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.  The class teachers and support staff are looking forward to meeting with parents and guardians to discuss all the progress that the children have made so far.  If you are unable to attend these meetings, please let your child’s teacher know so that a meeting can be arranged for another date.

The children from 1st to 6th Class will finish school at the earlier time of 2:15pm on Thursday 14th November only.

Maths Week 2019 is here!!!

This week sees St. Gabriel’s take part in another Maths Week Ireland.  The children will be having a great time taking part in extra fun Maths lessons, Maths trails around the school and in the Phoenix Park, practising using their ‘Maths Eyes’ all around and also the older children will be taking part in the Tables Champion competition.

Our Maths Games Extravaganza will take place on Wednesday 16th at 9am in the PE hall and we welcome all family members who are free to come along and take part in what is always a fantastic event.

For more information on events taking place see www.mathsweek.ie/2019/

Green Walk and Seachtain na Gaeilge

Seachtain na Gaeilge was again one of the busiest weeks of the year for the pupils and staff in St. Gabriel’s.  The week started on a high note with our sponsored Green Walk, where the local people of Stoneybatter were taken by surprise with a whole school of little green people taking to the streets!   A huge thank you to all the parents, guardians, family, friends and neighbours who supported the children as they raised funds for our school.

Other events that took place during the week included the Céilí Mór sa halla (agus bhí sé an-mhór ar fad, gach duine ag damhsa ó 9:15 go 10:45!), Tráth na gCeist/Table Quiz and the movie Amhrán na Mara/Song of the Sea shown as Gaeilge to round out the week!

Parent and Teacher Meetings

Every November in St. Gabriel’s we invite our parents and guardians to come to the school and meet with all the relevant teachers that work with your child/children.  We  have found that holding these meetings at this stage of the year allows our teachers to get to know their pupils and observe any progress, but also allows the parents and teachers to work and plan together for the coming year.  Both class and support teachers will be available for these meetings.

Meetings with parents will take place on Tuesday 13th and Tuesday 20th of November.  Please check the time and day that you have been assigned.  The meetings will last for ten minutes so we ask that everyone arrives on time for their appointment so that the afternoon will run to schedule.

Children will go home at 2:15pm on Tuesday 13th November to facilitate these meetings.  We look forward to welcoming all of you at some stage over the next few days.

Learning Through Play

Some of the children from 1st Class recently went down to visit our new Aistear Playroom to investigate all the different toys and activities.  From running a busy café, building a city, running an international jewellery and hat business, visiting the supermarket and welcoming guests to their house, they all exercised their imaginations and had a lot of fun at the same time!

Maths Week 2018

All the children in St. Gabriel’s enjoyed a fantastic week of learning and fun during Maths Week Ireland recently.  There were many activities taking place during the week including our whole school Maths Games Extravaganza, Maths trails both around the school and in the Phoenix Park and a nail-biting Tables Championship Quiz.  Huge thanks to all our wonderful parents who were able to take part that week!  Pictured are some of our quiz winners and our Maths Games Extravaganza.
