Birthday Celebrations
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Over the last year and a half, we have had to make a number of changes in St. Gabriel’s NS to deal with the challenging times. One part of these changes that the children and staff have really enjoyed has been the chance to celebrate each child’s birthday in school, as birthday parties have been unable to take place as normal. This year we have some new plans for how these school celebrations will work!
* Instead of having a small celebration, each class will have a big party once a month to celebrate every child in that room whose birthday has fallen in that month Continue reading
Senior Infants are learning about trains!
Over the past two weeks Senior Infants have been learning all about trains. As part of their role-play, the children pretended to check tickets and work at the lost and found desk. They worked in teams to construct railway tracks and learned many new words associated with trains. They listened to a story called ‘The Train Ride’, which was read by a real train driver! They asked the driver lots of excellent questions about her day. Furthermore, the children used their marvelous imaginations to draw what they might see from the window of a train. Well done Senior Infants!
Teddy Bear Picnic with the Principal!
Junior Infants and Senior Infants were kindly invited by our principal, Ms. Comerford, to a very special Teddy Bear Picnic in our courtyard today. Everybody brought a bear or a cuddly toy to school to join us on our picnic. As you can see from the photos we had a wonderful time. We found out the names of and some stories about each and every bear.
St. Gabriel’s FUN-draising Day!

We had an amazing Fun Day in St. Gabriel’s NS this year as part of our fundraising initiatives. All the children could wear their own clothes for the No Uniform Day and this started off the party atmosphere! Throughout the day everyone got to take part in Party Games, Playground Games and an Outdoor Disco where DJ (Mr) Donnelly had the whole school up and dancing. All of these activities were topped off with a visit from the Ice-Cream Van. What a fantastic day we all had!
Thank you to everyone who has returned their donation envelopes already and there is still time to send it back for anyone who has not had the chance yet.
