Lámh Sign of the Week: “Thank You”

🌟 This week’s Lámh sign is a simple but powerful one: “Thank You.” 🌟

Expressing gratitude is a universal gesture, and in Lámh, the sign for “thank you” is just as meaningful. Whether you’re saying it to a friend, a teacher, or a family member, it’s a lovely way to show appreciation. 🙏

How to Sign “Thank You” in Lámh:

  1. Use your right hand in an ‘L’ handshape, with the palm facing yourself.
  2. Touch your fingertips to your chin.
  3. Move your hand outward from your chin, keeping the handshape intact.

That’s it! You’ve just signed “thank you” in Lámh. 😊

✨ Keep practicing and incorporate it into your daily conversations. Saying “thank you” is always a kind and meaningful gesture, whether it’s with spoken words or Lámh signs.

Let’s spread kindness, one sign at a time! 💬🤗

Lámh Sign of the Week

We are excited to introduce our Lámh Sign of the Week program! Every Monday, Ms. Fitzpatrick, along with Vicki, Aoife, and the wonderful students in Ms. Fitzpatrick’s class, will be visiting each class to introduce and demonstrate the Lámh sign of the week.

This initiative aims to increase awareness and encourage everyone to learn and use Lámh, a manual sign system used by children and adults with additional needs in Ireland. We’ll be sharing a new sign each week, and you’ll have the chance to learn it alongside your classmates.

A visual guide for each sign will be displayed in the PE hall, so you can refer to it and practice throughout the week. We hope this initiative brings us all closer together as we learn more about Lámh and how we can support communication in our school community.

The first sign of the week is “Hi” – a simple and friendly greeting to start us off! Let’s begin practicing and use it to connect with each other!
